SLEEP PROBLEMS: Progesterone and Sleep

Probably one of the most underrated gifts we have is SLEEP! When you can sleep deeply and soundly every night your body can rejuvenate. You feel relaxed, clear headed and energized during the day.

When you cannot sleep, everything you do from weight management to faculty engagement suffers. You under perform in life.

Sleep deprivation can sabotage your waistline and your health. ”

As a medium it is extremely important I get a great night of rejuvenating sleep before a day I work with clients. My mind has to be razor sharp to perceive the messages coming in from the non physical sphere.

So you might imagine the last few months have been devastating for me as I wrestled with a lack of good sleep.

Some of the pills and herbs I took knocked me out so badly that I would be in bed in a coma for 10 hours, wake up groggy with a general feeling of not being awake or asleep.

I became the walking dead!

(lol! I love to be dramatic. Italian background!)

I wondered what would become of me, such a zombie I had become. When I took a pill I did not sleep. I passed out.

At times certain pills gave me side effects like migraines and nausea.

When I did not take a pill I lied there half the night like a tortured buzzing energy body.

I tried everything I could think of from essential oils, to melatonin, Valerian, B vitamins, etc.

What had been easy for me to do beforehand, had become an almost comical challenge.

One day I had a “wake up call” as I looked at my nightstand next to my bed. I had on it.

  1. Essentials oils like CBD, Lavendar, “Good Night” blend, “Good Sleep” blend.
  2. One bottle of “Relax and Sleep,” a Melatonin type pill, which I crushed before taking so I could absorb it better. Pill crusher was right next to it.
  3. Two bottles of Valerian Root.
  4. Three different brands of natural sleep formulations, a Tylenol night time and a Kirkland Sleep remedy.

Here’s a picture of these sleep remedies that all sat on my nightstand at the same time.

Finally, one day as I was ruminating with a close friend about this, I had an epiphany. I realized I had cut down my intake of the herb Chasteberry Tree.

I had been taking it to balance my progesterone levels. I wanted to see if lowering this dose would affect me.

If your progesterone is low, you could have trouble sleeping as it does promote general feeling of relaxation and well being.

Aha! So I thought to myself, maybe this is the culprit.

Here is an article about Progesterone and Sleep which supports these claims. “Women, Are Your Hormones Keeping You Up at Night?”

As soon as I increased my dosage to its former level, I began to sleep like a baby again.

Here is an example of what I take. I take 1600mg a day. (Of course check with your medical professional to find what is best for you.)

Namaste,

  1. Hi Marilyn, Thank you so much for your help! I am touched at your caring enough to write. Glad to hear your session with me was helpful. :)

I had a recent breakthrough with sleep. I no longer needs pills or things to help me sleep. You might enjoy this new article: LIMITLESS: How to Fall Asleep with LOVE! https://spiritmediumlaura.com/how-to-fall-asleep/

  2. Hi Laura,
Regarding sleep….You can also try NEURO SLEEP….it is in Publix where they sell flavored waters. It is in a small orange bottle (contains melatonin). Something you can drink before bed. I drink about one third of bottle at a time.
You gave me a reading at your residence about 4 years ago that helped me tremendously. Best Wishes, Marilyn Noyes
